Went today outside the city, north of Amsterdam. On the road to Alkmaar you have such a beautiful view on the sky. Landscape is completely flat, so you can see the clouds coming in from above the north sea into the country. I like that, I should have stopped to enjoy it, didn’t had my digcam in the car, too bad.
Had to think of the times we went to the beach a few years ago, allways looking towards the sky to find out where the best place would be to go, Castricum, Bergen aan Zee or maybe go to the south and head for Scheveningen, het Zwarte Pad. We’ve had a few discussions in the car about this. Sometimes it happend that weather in the city was great (let’s say a clear sky). We got the car and headed outside… Once at this highway to Alkmaar with the ‘huge sky’, we could see dark clouds coming in from the west, from the sea… watching behind us, south it was still clear. So we should have headed to the south…. which was a one hour drive more…
But so often, once at the beach…nort or south, the sky was often open and all was forgotten.
Later I did do some green things, bought some plants for my balcony and in my house. Putted them into new pot’s. I used to have green fingers… but most of my plants die now. Hmmm. Only some Sanseveria’s flourish very well (see picture).
[Sanseveria – Snake Plant, Mother-In-Law’s Tongue
Snake plant is one of the most tolerant house plants. It tolerates most light exposures but may need some shade from direct sun. Use any well drained potting soil and allow the plants to dry between waterings, especially during the winter. Ideal temperatures are 62 to 65 degrees at night and up to 85 degrees during the day. Repot in early summer if needed. Propagation is by division or leaf section cuttings. When using leaf section cuttings, keep track of the upper end. If planted upside down the cutting will not grow. Plants produced from variegated cuttings will be green.( source )]
Needed more soil so I headed to the Albert Cuijp Market to my special greenery. This shop has the greatest plants you can find. On my way there (on bike) I ran at the van Baerlestraat into the Chairman of Managing Board RG of my company. I consided stopping, going back and ask him some questions… but I didn’t. Instead I bought myself an extra plant at the market.
