Managed to get My ADSL-connection working again.
Yesterday evening, suddenly I couldn’t connect anymore with my adsl dialup. Checked my firewall, have reseted my puter a few times, tried to make another adsl dial up, nothing worked. This morning, before going to work, I tried again… (sometimes I have the silent hope that suddenly these things work again), but only a number of error’s: Rnaapp heeft ongeldig bewerking etc, OK >> Ndetect error >> Msmsgs error >> Loadqm error >> Rundll32 error. Grrr… Tried to connect with my normal 56k6 modem which worked… so… the problem was somehow located to the used programs from (MS Windows98SE), and network card and my adsl connection. I checked this morning Google and discovered some possible solutions… I wasn’t the first and the only-one to have encountered the Rnaapp error.
I’ll let you know what the possible solution were for my problem:
1. Put back a ghost of entire system (an user)
2. Extract the rnaapp.exe from Win98 CDROM, and overwrite the file in /windows/system folder/… (CiNet)
3. Remove and reinstall Dial-Up Networking and try again (CiNet)
4. Uninstall Quarterdeck Cleansweep (Microsoft)
5. Get the latest drivers from the network card firm
6. Try again, reboot and try again (Microsoft, MxStream)
7. Switch modem off and on, reboot system ( HCCnet )
8. Check the setting from the network card (XS4ALL)
9. Uninstall network and reinstall network card (Microsoft)
10. Backup all files, format HD and reinstall Windows OS again (a friend).
And what worked for me?
a. I resetted my system many times unsuccesfully…
b. I got new drivers for my network card, but was sorting out how to tell my puter that I’ve got new one’s for him…
c. I’ve put my phone line back in the adsl-modem and resetted it (switch off and switch on)….
Connecting gave immediately result….. so all suggestions could have lead to more damage then needed… only resetting my modem did the job. Hurrah for HCCnet…
I good example how simple some computer problems can be solved.
