There are sometimes day’s that you thinks, I should have stayed asleep and stayed in bed the whole day. I’ve thought that several times today.

This morning I slept through my alarmclock, normally on thursday I’m free, but I had an important launch today and wanted to be in control about it. So, half an hour later as planned I rushed out of my bed, and instead of getting on my feet, I fell on the floor, after hitting the edge of my bed with my back and a large mirror with my leg. I simply fell through my legs, like someone blew my legs away. Still don’t know what happened. With huge pain I stumbled back on bed, lay there a few minutes realising and checking whether everything was still there and working, which was luckely true. Only a painfull back (lowerback) and a cut in my leg, no bloody mess.

Then I rushed into the shower and followed my daily routine, only everything within a small time-span. Getting outside I realised someone had put on the shower there to. Back in to get an umbrella.

Then downstairs realising that the garbage with smelly fish is still standing on the balcony, I walked towards the corner of my street, and see the bus (my bus) waiting behind a large truck. He had just passed my bus stop. I know that I can be in time at the next one if I immediately start running towards it. With a few times almost falling through my knees again I managed to get the bus and went inside. The bus was packed… so standing was the only possibility, or hanging at a pole is better what is looked like. Bus brakes are not so good, so he had to brake very rough, throwing me, and everybody else, against each other. Everybody is wet. Going to the next stop, more people stepping in, and seeing an almost empty bus coming behind ours. If the driver refused passengers to get in, or let the other one pass us, it would have be much better. What he didn’t do…

So, completely overheated and annoyed I arrived at the Central Station for my Metro to the my place in the south-east of the city. Going downstair, I see my train standing, I running towards it, thinking not to get in the metro through the first door, but taking the second… everbody takes the first, so… But at the moment we are passing the first open doors, we heard the sound of the bell, the signal the doors are closing in 1 or 2 seconds. We turn around and put ourselves between the already closing doors. We succeeded, a bit squeezed though.

So, metro also packed with wet people, I again hang against a pole. Standing in a strategic posistion checking out whoever it preparing to leave the train and giving me a seat. One lady in front of me get’s up, and at the same time, the girl, whith whom I squeesed through the doors, was also aiming for this seat. And, well, even my morning was horrible, I managed to say, go ahead, take the seat. (I was closer to the seat then she). So, I ended up, hanging against a pole al the way to the my station, Bijlmer. Station is now also a disaster. They are rebuilding the place, so parts are already torn down, walking through a layer of mud and small lakes of water. Being hit by contructionworkers with spades or small vans. Not being able to walk normally…

So, in complete stress I arrive at my workingplace… getting remarks like, what are you doing here, we thought you had the day off. I wish I had taken it.

But… a good cup of strong coffee did me good. Sitting in a carefull position at my chair, I was able to get started finally. Around 10:00 we did the launch of an online magazine for our webbanking clients. It all went smoothly and everybody was enthousiastic. All well prepared by some colleages and me. No champagne though. Well, some pie in the afternoon, celebrating a birthday. Later in the afternoon, I got the news that it’s most likely that a project I’ve been working on for the last three months might be canceled soon. Or it will be delayed half a year and built within a different system. Nothing officially said yet, so I have to continue as if nothing happened.

Planning more meetings for the next several day’s I realising that the ammount of work I’m handling is a bit too much. I have since the first of januari more things to do then ever.

Finishing the day with fitness in the office’sportscenter did me very good, although I couldn’t do any ground execises, due to my blue and swollen painfull back. Ran 18 minutes on the machine. Third day in succesion that I did this thing. Have to get rid of that winter fat. And prepare for running outside again, hopefully soon.

On my way home, I managed to read the morning paper, metro almost empty. Bus home, packed again, halfway I managed to get a seat. You can believe I was happy getting home at eight.

Tomorrow I have too take care with which foot first I leave my bed.

(When trying to hit ‘submit’ all programs frooze. Luckely I’ve learned from the past and copied everything to the clipboard first. It’s now 15 minutes later, after rebooting and scanning the disk, I’m going to post and go to bed)
