shooting again
yesterday evening, I was sitting behind my computer, webcam on, and chatting with some friends when I suddenly heard ‘pang pang’. Followed by maybe 6 more pangs. I knew immediately that this wasn’t fireworks. So I went to the front window and saw already two police cars standing, after opening the window I heard a lot of people shouting outside. ‘put your hands up’ and things like that. It seemed there have been again a shooting in the street. It’s the second after the one in februari (see Xanga Guido’s Weblog 2/23/2002 ) where two men were shot. 

When everything appeared to be safe(!), i went outside to find out what happened. Heard there that a men (a drugsdealer) was walking around with a gun in his hand and threatning people in the street. The alarmed police arrived quickly (for a change) and approached the guy with bullitproof vests on. When he didn’t want to put his gun down, they had to shoot him. The men was hit in the shoulder and was lying in front of the pharmacy in the Van Hallstraat. With an ambulance they took him to the hospital.
Just saw some pictures at the local tv station. The police have not yet made a statement about the shooting. Only thing they said was that they thought the policemen at the location did a good job.

Luckely, no innocent bystander was hurt, but many people in the neighbour really got a shock. Everyone was alarmed by the noise of the police guns.
