public autopsy

Germany’s Professor Gunther von Hagens performs a public autopsy on a 72-year-old man in front of an audience at the Atlantis gallery in London, November 20, 2002. Von Hagens is carrying out the first public post-mortem examination in Great Britain since the 1830s despite being threatened with arrest after Her Majesty’s Inspector of Anatomy ruled on November 19 that he did not have a license to carry out the autopsy.
