Goldtour 7 Säterturen

A very beautiful walk through a well preserved mountain farm area in mountain terrain – unique in its size. The marking is a red moose supplemented with a gold tour sign. In several places, there are informative signs about culture. Lower Hågnvallen is a living mountain farm located along the trail. About halfway, after upper and lower Torrbergsvallen, you reach a place called Vitäggen. It winds itself like a snake along Mittåns valley. The ridge was formed after a strong water current in a river when the inland ice melted. Djupdalsvallens creek offers excellent cold water. The trek passes Kuppvallen and Storkläppsvallen. The area is botanical interesting so keep your eyes open for beautiful flowers.

Goldtour 7b: Mittåkläppen

An ascent of Mittåkläppen is almost a must! Top ascent of Mittåkläppen, 1212 meter above sea level is a nice hike and the view from the top is wonderful. The walk is marked from Djupdalsvallen. Two roads to the top, an easier and a difficult one. Do not take the difficult one if you are afraid of heights. The view from the top of Mittåkläppen is fantastic. When the weather is clear you can see peaks in Norway, which is almost 200 km away, Sylarna, Predikstolen, Helags, Hovärken down at Lofsdalen, Anåfjället, Vigelfjällen in Norway.

Goldtour 24: Röstberget

The tour begins at the end of the way in to Röstbergets Holiday village at the car park. It’s clearly signposted and runs along the broad path towards Ljusnedal. Röstberget is criss-crossed by several paths, routes and ski tracks so there are a lot of signs some places. Along the trail there’s great variety of tree and forest biotopes. Soon, you will reach the area with steep potato fields, which are so typical for this area. The potato fields is located in terraces to both the left and right of the trail. It may be as much as 10 meters height difference of 20-25 meters of farmings and 10 m long and 2 m high stonecairns and walls all around. These were made in the 1780s after the initiative of the cartridge Nils Södergren at Ljusdals industrial and is still partly in use.

Goldtour 28: Malmagsvålen

Easy tour with broad horizons. gives the feeling of being on ”the roof of the world”!
There are footbridges in wet places. In the sparse woods, you see a height in front of you, Malmagsvålen. There you find a resting place and topinformation. Enjoy the beautiful scenery.
Although the top is not that high and the climb not that difficult the feeling of finding yourself on the roof of the world is wonderful!
Continue the trek to west, after 300 meters take to the left. On your way down you pass an open place with stone foundations. Röstvallen is an old abandoned mountain farm. Today it is the starting place for many of the winter ski tracks. The path continues down through the birch forests. Don’t get lost here!

Ljusnedal GK, the 18-hole course in Ljusnedal, built in 1972, has twice hosted the Swedish Pro Tour, proving the quality of the course.

Goldtour 6: Hällmålningarna – Rock paintings

Rock paintings, some 4,000 to 6,000 years old.

Lunch near the top, enjoying the view.

Gunilla enjoying the beauty of the mountains.

A lot of footbridges, dry and easy walked. This tour is also marked with tourist attraction signs, a red moose on gray background, and with the golden tour sign. The Rock paintings are between 4 – 5.000 years old, 20 animal figures and a few human figures. It is easy to be fascinated by the history, and that the hand-painted works of art in stone have been preserved through centuries. The tour continues over the top of Ruändan and gives you opportunity to catch your breath at Rypkâllhaugen – a pyramid-shaped mound close to the path at the highest point. Some believe it is a natural mound, others that it is a burial. It was plundered in the past, but not dug out by archaeologists. The trek goes on more than one kilometers to Evagraven, a large canyon formed for 10 000 years when the ice began to disappear. Here we choose to shorten the tour by going
straight down the grave back to Ruvallen. Go on until the ravine edge to experience the depth and the fantastic rock formations. Remember that the large flat rocks can wiggle, be careful. In the lower part of the ravine where the path turns off to Ruvallen, it is an easy climb down to the little lake where the chars are. Both graves where formed when the dammed ice lake in Ljungan valley brim over to the south during ice melting’s most dramatic stage. Some people used graves to overturn prey to death over the sharp edges. Near the Fiskhålsgraven a stump was found in the 1950s. The pine was 8 000 years old, and shows that it was tall forest on Flatruet. A part of the tree trunk is available today on the Fjällmuseét in Funäsdalen.

Eating waffles

The local museum, Härjedalens Fjällmuseum, gives the answers to these questions as well as showing the lives of the Sami and mountain farmers in the old days. The museum opened recently and offers many opportunities to discover, touch and explore. The combination of the museum, Fornminnesparken and Näsvalls art museum is proven to be a genuine success. The many visitors are impressed and inspired by the local folklore of Härjedalen.

Goldtour 14: Anderssjöåfallet

A nice tour along the ridge of the Flower mountain tour with waterfalls and a beautiful view.
Steep down from the top of Hamrafjället. A beautiful tour that is easy to walk and there are footbridges at all wet areas. Walk down to the water and follow the stairs along Anderssjöåfallet. After 180 steps you are up on flat plain. The path is orange and marked as a golden tour which leads up to a plateau at 875 meters above sea level, with a skibridge over Anderssjöån to the left.
