Maasvlakteboulevard is a road at the North sea coast on the Maasvlakte 2 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

Dutch artist collective Observatorium has created a concrete installation that takes cues from the surrounding sand dunes on a Rotterdam beach.

The huge sculpture made of wood is called De Zandwacht. A large open sculpture that crowns the land reclamation of Maasvlakte 2 and offers a view on the coast of Zeeland, the North Sea, the automated container terminals and the dikes of the Slufter, a huge deposit of contaminated sands. The concrete skeleton represent three stages of dune formation. Inauguration was july 2015.

Maasvlakte 2 is a major civil engineering project in the Netherlands, constructing a new port and supporting infrastructure on reclaimed land adjoining the Maasvlakte. Approximately 2000 hectares will be reclaimed, behind a 4 km dike; approximately 1000 hectares will be used by ports related industries. It is an extension of the Port of Rotterdam.

Maasvlakte 2 is the biggest civil engineering project in the Netherlands since the Delta Works. The area opened on 22 May 2013.

On the Maasvlakte, an artificial beach was created, the Maasvlaktestrand.
