In 2011, the current owners of the Stenstugan, Särö 1:355, at Kungsbacka kommun, Anna och Marcus Rimner received for their restoration work the “Hallands museiförenings diplom för god byggnadsvård”.

Hotellrummet vetter rätt ut mot skärgården och Waxholmsbåtarna lägger till nedanför vår egen lilla balkong. Det är avslappnad lågsäsongstid. Ändå strålar solen över fjärden som morgonpiggt glittrar tillbaka in i rummet.

Alldeles nära ligger Vaxholms fästning och manifesterar vilka historiska marker vi befinner oss på, första byggnaden restes redan på 1500-talet.

Waxholms hotell byggdes i början av 1900-talet och väggarna vittnar om överklassens nöjen. Här finns mängder av äldre foton på fina damer och herrar på sommaräventyr.

Märkligt nog är bilder på Oscar II dominerande och vi tänker att han måste ha haft med hotellet att göra. Men det är tur att vi frågar den vänliga personalen. Nej, Oscar II sitter där därför att den tidigare ägaren, den nu avlidne krögaren och tv-personligheten Åke Söder­qvist, tyckte att han själv var lik honom. Nu har hotellet nya ägare, som för en mer tillbakadragen tillvaro.

Middagen intas i den vackra matsalen med gedigna, träinfattade stora fönster som var ovanligare då än nu.

Kristallkronor och vita dukar blandas med runda kajutafönster, fartygsmodeller och skeppsrattar. Är man här under lågsäsong är det mörkt utanför fönstret, men fästningen reser sig i upplyst prakt. Vi äter tonfisktartar, lammrostbiff med en delikat inbakad potatispuré och en crème brulée gjord på citrongräs.

Det är gott och lite kul, men huvud­rätten kunde ha serverats något varmare. Vår servitör rekommenderar först ingenting av vinet, men efter en del diskussioner prickar vi tillsammans in en blandning av cabernet sauvignon och malbec från Argentina. Perfekt.

Frukosten har precis allt man önskar sig på ett hotell, varken mer eller mindre. Därefter är det dags att gå tillbaka till det lilla, enkla rummet och packa ihop sig inför hemresan.

Men innan vi lämnar Vaxholm vill vi promenera i hamnen och längs den pittoreska huvudgatan för att se de vackra gamla husen. Och förundras över hur långt det känns från Stockholm, fast det bara är tre och en halv mil.

The Visby ringmur or city wall is an old and dusty medieval defensive wall surrounding the old Swedish town Visby, on the island of Gotland.

The built of ringmur was begun in the 13th century. Around 1280 it was rebuilt to reach its current height, along with the addition of its characteristic towers (although some towers were not constructed until the 15th century) It is part of the World Heritage 731 in Visby. The war in 1288 between the citizens of Gotland and the Danish army gave the citizens of Visby a reason to continue the work with the wall. All together the city wall became 3.4 km, and it was finished in the beginning of the 14th century. At the time, the wall contained 29 towers, 27 of which are remaining today.

During the 1361 Battle of Visby, the main battle was fought within 300 meters of the North Gate of Visby. The peasant forces were ultimately unsuccessful, however, resulting in the citizens of Visby surrendering to the Danish forces.

Nacka is the municipal seat of Nacka Municipality and part of Stockholm urban area in Sweden. The municipality’s name harks back to a 16th-century industrial operation established by the Crown at Nacka farmstead where conditions for water mills are good.

In Nacka, the ferry boat company Waxholmsbolaget can take you out in the Stockholm archipelago.

North Cape (Norwegian: Nordkapp; North Sami: Davvenjárga) is a cape on the island of Magerøya in Northern Norway, in the municipality of Nordkapp. Its 307 metres high, steep cliff is often referred to as the northernmost point of Europe.

The North Cape was named by English explorer Richard Chancellor in 1553 when he passed the cape in the search for a Northeast passage. Today, the North Cape is a major tourist attraction. Inside the restricted area is the Nordkapphallen, an extensive commercial tourist centre that houses a number of exhibits on the Cape’s history.

The North Cape is reached by road through the North Cape Tunnel. Regular buses run from the nearby town of Honningsvåg to the North Cape (36 kilometres). North Cape Tunnel (Norwegian: Nordkapptunnelen) was a subsea road tunnel under Magerøysundet from the Norwegian mainland to Magerøya. The tunnel was built between 1993 and 1999, is 6,875 metres long, and reaches a depth of 212 metres below the sea level.
North Cape Tunnel is part of European route E69. As from 29 June 2012, there is no charge for passing through the tunnel.

Långedrag is area in the Älvsborg distric in western Göteborg. You can get here by tram from central Göteborg. The area go its name after the so-called Långedragsjullarna – sturdy and seaworthy wooden sailboats in several sizes ( J10, J14, J18, J22 and J26).

Långedrag is also the home of the Göteborgs Kungliga Segelsällskap, GKSS, a yacht club in Göteborg, with operations in Långedrag, Marstrand and Aeolusön in the Göteborg archipelago, and founded in 1860. GKSS is one of the nation’s largest sports organizations in terms of number of members with approximately 4,200 members. GKSS’s biggest event is the annual Match Cup Sweden (formerly called the Swedish Match Cup).

New Långedrag Värdshus is also located on the classical restaurant ground in Långedrag and is housed in Sjösäkerhetens Hus, owned by SSRS, Sjöräddningssällskapet or the Swedish Sea Rescue Society. On this site and right next to many Gothenburgers remember old Långedrag Värdshus and former Långedrags Restaurant. The sea view from the restaurant is unbeatable! One of the most picturesque seaside locations in Göteborg, only 15 minutes from the city centre with a fantastic view of the archipelago and the entrance to Gothenburg harbour. Menu inspired by the sea and large outdoor seating area.
