The street got its name in 1882 in memory of Nicolaus Sahlgren. An older name of the street was Jungfrustigen, because the girls in the family often went here on his way to the fish and vegetable markets.

In the eighth district, the plot No. 21, was the third Sahlgrenska Hospital from 1855 to 1900.
Along Sahlgren Way north side of the walls, which belong to the bastion Carolus Dux. Once this torn down, relatively much of the foundations was left there. The land inside the walls is therefore higher than the outside. Below ground level are three brick walkways and a couple of rooms preserved from the bastion.

Saxo Bank is a young dynamic internet bank with focus on online-trade with currencies, shares and futures on the bank’s self-developed platform, Saxo Trader. Saxo Bank was founded in 1992 in Denmark and counts around 850 staff members of 35 nationalities who serve customers from 115 different countries.

Saxo Bank’s new headquarter in Copenhagen is designed by 3XN. Although the customers primarily encounter the bank in cyberspace, the physical premises of the head office is of great importance to the management of the bank who participate actively and are highly dedicated to the development of the building. The building is of great iconographic significance, and there is a strong conviction that architecture and design affect each staff member’s performance and awareness of the company.
The architectural design is based on Saxo’s cutting-edge profile and branding. The lines of the building design define a sharp balance between reliability and dynamic expressivity in dialogue with the local plan. The building is shaped like two blocks with the end walls pointing towards the canal, joined together by facades that are withdrawn from the end walls. The facades are shaped like double curved glass that wave like a piece of textile.

Manövergången is a street in Göteborg alongside the Göta älv (or Göta river).
The building is the pictures is one of the workshop halls of the Eriksbergs Mekaniska Verkstads AB, a Swedish shipbuilding company based in Göteborg. It delivered its last ship in 1979.

Founded in 1850 by Christian Barchman, the company originally worked with galvanization. The first shipyard wharf was opened in 1871, and two years later they delivered their first ship. In 1876 the company was transformed into a joint-stock company, and so the name was changed to Eriksbergs Mekaniska Werkstads AB. In the beginning of the 1890s, the shipyard was still the smallest of the three wharfs that existed in Gothenburg. Production was based on passenger ships, steam cutters and towboats for Denmark, Norway and Finland, and ferries for Stockholm’s public transportation. In 1915 Eriksberg underwent massive developments to accommodate production of larger ships after a major takeover of the corporation’s stocks by Dan Broström.
During 1978-79 all activities were successfully terminated at Eriksberg, and on 15 June 1979 the shipyards last vessel, a product tanker M/T Atland was delivered to Broströms, that was already on the brink of bankruptcy. Just about a year before the shut down Erikbergs Mekaniska Verkstad had delivered the ULCC:s ‘Nai Superba’ and ‘Nai Genova’ at about 460 000 dwt each! The greatest ships ever built in Gothenburg as well as they were among the last. The Nai-ships were demolished in year 2000-2001.
Today, all that remains of EMV is an 84m high, orange gantry crane and two workshop halls; the engine workshop ‘Blå Hallen’, today hosting a hotel and conference facility, and the former workshop ‘Eriksbergshallen’ with the text ‘Eriksbergs Mek. Verkstads AB Shipbuilders Engineers & Repairers’ still painted on the facade. Along the former equipping quays are now blocks of fancy condos and boutiques.
Today, Eriksbergshallen is part of the Quality Hotel 11. This Quality Hotel 11 is located at Gothenburg’s harbour inlet, with views over the water. Eriksbergshallen is nearby, with all the facilities you need. The hotel is characterised by architecture, impressive art and Scandinavian design. It is a populair hotel for visters to the Volvo Museum and factory fro all over the world.

Södra Blasieholmskajen, Strömkajen or Södra Blasieholmshamnen is a quay and a street in Stockholm, which stretches from the Strömgatan and Stallgatan to the west to Skeppsholmsbron in the East. Strömkajen is the center of all Waxholmsbolagets boat traffic from Stockholm to the archipelago as well as a base for many sightseeing boats. Southern Blasieholmshamnen got its name in 1876 and replaced the designation Blasieholmshamnen.
The new smal building behind the Volvo S90 car is the new building for boat tickets of Waxholmsbolaget and Strömma Kanalbolaget, created by Marge Architects.

2015 – Terminal building at Strömkajen in Stockholm (photo by Marge)
“The big challenge in this project is that in one of Stockholm’s most important cultural environments create an architecture with its own identity while submitting to the surrounding parade buildings. The starting point of the proposal is to create buildings but back in the scale and design are perceived more as a piece of furniture / sculpture on the quay than a traditional building.

2016 – Södra Blasieholmskajen in Stockholm (own photo)
The new terminal buildings at Strömkajen fulfill both shipowners’ wishes in function and logistics, and the city’s desire to buildings with a design that corresponds to its location in the city’s parlor. Quay’s open nature is preserved and sight lines toward Salt Lake retained. The buildings are expanded to also take care of inventories, recycling center, service activities and sign programs – features that are currently found on the quay in the shape of containers, temporary glass kiosks and a variety of signs. The third building, containing inventories of boats, complemented by cafe overlooking staircase. There you can take the perfect postcard image of the castle or sit in the afternoon chair and enjoy the view of the Old Town and Södermalm.”
Places to visit here are the HQ of Svenska Handelsbanken (in Palmeska huset), Grand Hôtel, Bolinderska palatset, Burmanska huset (in Burmanska palatset), Nationalmuseum and Lydmar Hotel.

Järkholmsvägen is a street in Hovås Askim, south of Göteborg, where in previous times, the coastal train (Säröbanan) from Göteborg to Särö used to run. On this formal train track, a beautiful walking and cycling path has been created along the west coast. At Järkholmsvägen, you will also find Hovås Kallbadhus and Hovåsbadet.
Säröbanan (Göteborg-Särö railway, GSJ) was a railway line from Göteborg to Särö. It was in operation from 1903 to 1965. Säröbanan was unusual in that it had no connection to the nationwide network. The last few years (from April 9, 1962) Säröbanan was connected to the Göteborg tram network, then the route Linnéplatsen – Frölundaborg served by both trams and railcars.

Parts of the old Säröbanan railtrack are populair for hinking, cycling and skating activities.
