Heden, originally Exercisheden, is a district in central Göteborg, close to Ullevi and the city center. Today, parking is often the main function of this place, besides the sport fields for football or bandy.

The church in the background is from the Catholic community in Göteborg.

The Catholic parish of Christ the King (Kristus Konungens församling), founded in 1862, is one of Sweden’s oldest Catholic parishes founded after the protestant reformation. It is also Gothenburg’s largest, with just over 5000 (ca. 3000 families) members from many different countries.

The current church was inaugurated in 1938 and is situated in central Gothenburg at Exercisheden (a big downtown area with sports grounds), close to the Horticultural Society park (Trädgårdsföreningen) and the railway station.

Mass is celebrated daily in Swedish. Mass is also celebrated on regular basis in Swedish Sign Language, English, Latin, Polish, Croatian, Slovenian, Italian, Spanish, Gheez and Arabic.

Postgatan is one of the oldest streets in Göteborg. Postgatan was renamed several times, originally the street was named Heringsgatan (from the german Hering, haring) until 1671, but the name changed later to the Sillgatan, which was the name until 1895.

The street was the large emigration street in Sweden, where all emigrant agents’ offices, hotels and restaurants were located when over million Swedes left Sweden for America.

In the building pictured, the Göteborgs Choklad & Karamellfabrik is located.

Lindholmen Science Park is an international collaborative environment for research, innovation and education within the areas Transport, ICT and Media. The district is located in Gothenburg, Sweden, on the island of Hisingen on the northern shore of Göta Älv. The Lindholmen district area is 104 hectares. In this area, campuses for Chalmers University of Technology, the University of Gothenburg, and the IT University of Göteborg can be found. The universities collaborate with high tech industries and the local community in different development projects. Currently 250 companies, notably Volvo Cars, Volvo Technology, Ericsson, IBM, Semcon, and SVT. Over 21 000 employees or students are working or studying at the area.

The main operators of Lindholmen Science Park AB are Gothenburg Municipality, Chalmers University of Technology, the University of Gothenburg, Volvo Group, Ericsson, Volvo Cars, Business Region Göteborg, TeliaSonera, Saab, and the Swedish Road Administration.

As the Lindholmen area was growing, street traffic has been adapted for high capacity needs. Lindholmen can be reached by several modes of transportation: Gothenburg’s oldest trunk bus line, number 16, goes through Lindholmen. The bus lanes are separated from the rest of the traffic in an alleyway and may be used later as part of the Gothenburg tram network, but this is not currently in planning. There is also a ferry, Älvsnabben, connecting Lindholmen with Rosenlund/Järntorget. One of the newest demo projects concerning public transport is the Electricity bus demonstration project, electric buses which are to run between Johanneberg Science Park adjacent to Chalmers and Lindholmen Science Park in June 2015.

The tower can hold 17-18 million liters of water and is 48 meters high. There are 240 steps up to the top. The view from the top of the tower should be fantastic. That should be added that the tower is one of the largest ‘mushroom-shaped’ water tower, if there is such a competitive class.

2012 - Slottsbacken in Stockholm (Google Streetview)

Slottsbacken is a street in Gamla stan, the old town in central Stockholm, Sweden.

It stretches east from the Stockholm Cathedral and the Royal Palace down to the street Skeppsbron which passes along the eastern waterfront of the old town. In the western end, the alley Källargränd leads south to the square Stortorget, while Storkyrkobrinken extends Slottsbacken west beyond the cathedral and Högvaktsterrassen, down to the square Riddarhustorget. On the southern side of Slottsbacken, three alleys connect to the interior throng of the old town: On either side of the Tessin Palace are Finska Kyrkogränd and Bollhusgränd, while Österlånggatan begins in the low-lying eastern part of the slope.

The street, named after the vicinity to the Royal Palace, first appears in historical records during the second half of the 15th century (1476, stalbakkan, “Stable Slope”; 1478, Slotz bakkan), and from early on the name designated not only the slope down to the waterfront, but also the open space above it.

In Nacka Strand, the properties are built with sustainable materials and the buildings are cooled in an environmentally sound manner, using sea water. By being careful with the details we have created an atmosphere that is almost going to breathe in the sea winds.

Nacka Strandsmässan is a venue for exhibitions and events, which allows for plenty of scope and space! The 19th century building was once a car factory, but is now a creative and inspiring meeting place ideal for conferences, fairs, banquets and other events.

In the boat harbor there since 1995 a statue by Carl Milles, a 23 meter high sculpture picturing God the Father of Heaven in an arc that sprays water into an elegant way… The sculpture has become the hallmark of Nacka Strand.

The af Chapman, formerly the Dunboyne (1888–1915) and the G.D. Kennedy (–1923), is a full-rigged steel ship moored on the western shore of the islet Skeppsholmen in central Stockholm, Sweden, now serving as a youth hostel.

Skeppsholmen is one of the islands of Stockholm. It is connected with Blasieholmen and Kastellholmen by bridges. Positioned strategically at the Baltic Sea entrance to Stockholm, it has traditionally been the location of several military buildings. Today the military presence is low and several museums can be found there instead, such as the Museum of Modern Art, the main modern art museum of Stockholm, the architectural museum, in the same building, and Östasiatiska Muséet (East-Asian museum). It is also home to the Teater Galeasen. On the southern shore is the old sailing ship af Chapman which is now used as a youth hostel.

Göteborgs Stadsteater is Sweden’s oldest city theatre. It was founded in 1918 through a donation from inhabitants of Göteborg, and was originally based at the premises that are now Lorensberg Theatre.
The theatre at Götaplatsen was inaugurated in 1934. The building features elegant 1930’s architecture, particularly in the audience areas where there is a famous stairwell. Its stage machinery was highly advanced for its time, built by specialist engineers from Göteborg’s shipyard industry. It still works perfectly, but has naturally been supplemented with new technology.
