Vestre Fjordpark, re-opened in 2017 and has now transformed into a 165.000 square metre water park and activity centre, which can offer something for everyone who enjoys nature and water sport.

Vestre Fjordpark is seperated into different areas called Stranden, Tangen, Kilen, Fladen, Krattet and Skoven.

Stranden (the beach) is a large bathing area with sand bottom, a 50 m basin and diving board basin, diving board tower, and climbing wall. You can enjoy the sun on the areas on the roofs or the grass areas (with several sections in cover).

The areal between the Fjord and the bathing area is called Tangen, and from here kayaks are launched. In the Fjord there is a floating bridge, from where the kayaks can also be launched, or you can swim from the Open Water-sections.

Kilen is characterised by the open grass area and various opportunities for activity, e.g. throwing frisbees, parkour, street work-out, running on the pathways, foot- and handball, streetbasket and beachvolley. Children can bike on the child-friendly bikefield or run on the concrete hills. The calm area, Fladen, consists of a large grass area with a bonfire place, which is also useful for larger social arrangements.

Krattet is different from the other open areas, as it consists of narrow pathways and poles with nesting boxes for kestrels. The forest on the hill change into a bright forest of oak trees, which to the north is defined by flowery woods.

There are covered tables and benches in the entrance area and various tables and benches around the whole area. You can also try the Tarzan-track or enjoy the view from the 15m tall sculptured tower, created by the artist Thomas FOS Poulsen.

Vestre Fjordpark is open all day and there is free entrance.

Danish National Archives (Danish: Rigsarkivet) is the national archive system of Denmark. The primary purpose is to collect, preserve and archive historically valuable records from central authorities, such as ministries, agencies and national organisations and make them available to the public. The archive is part of the Ministry of Culture.

Previously the term Danish State Archives (Danish: Statens Arkiver) was used as the collective name for the archive system. In 2014 the archives were reorganised, and the name Rigsarkivet (which had previously only applied to the Danish National Archives in Copenhagen) became the new collective name for the entire archive system.

Bistro Royal is located at the corner of Gothersgade and Kongens Nytorv in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Bistro Royal is Madklubben’s elegant bistro on Kongens Nytorv, where the atmosphere is like in Paris, London and New York. At the best corner of the city, you can enjoy a wealth of French and Danish classics morning, noon and evening at prices that are well below the current level in this part of Copenhagen.

Kongens Nytorv (lit. “The King’s New Square”) is a public square in Copenhagen, Denmark, centrally located at the end of the pedestrian street Strøget. The largest square of the city, it was laid out by Christian V in 1670 in connection with a major extension of the fortified city, and has an equestrian statue of him at its centre. The initiative moved the centre of the city from the medieval area around Gammeltorv, at that time a muddy medieval marketplace, to a cobbled new square with a garden complex, inspired by the Royal city planning seen in Paris from the early 17th century.

Important buildings facing the square include the Royal Danish Theater from 1874, the Charlottenborg Palace from 1671 (now the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts), the Thott Palace from 1683 (now the French Embassy), the Hotel D’Angleterre and the Magasin du Nord department store.

Thorvaldsens Museum is located on Bertel Thorvaldsens Plads and Prins Jørgens Gård in Copenhagen – Denmark.

The Thorvaldsen Museum is a single-artist museum in Copenhagen, Denmark, dedicated to the art of Danish neoclassicistic sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen (1770–1844), who lived and worked in Rome for most of his life (1796–1838). The museum is located on the small island of Slotsholmen in central Copenhagen next to Christiansborg Palace. Designed by Michael Gottlieb Bindesbøll, the building was constructed from 1838–48 following a public collection of funds in 1837.

The building is strongly inspired by antique Greek architecture and built around an inner courtyard where the artist is buried. The courtyard is notable for being painted in Egyptian motifs: tall date palms; lions and crocodile prowl among exotic birds and plants. The Egyptian influence on the exterior is more chaste. Here, enormous doors in severe trapezoidal style define the architect’s intentions to pay homage at once to Attic Greek, Pompeiian and Egyptian style. It is noteworthy for its unique use of colors both inside and outside. Every room in the museum has a unique ceiling decoration in the grotesque style. The outside is adorned with a frieze depicting Thorvaldsen’s homecoming from Rome in 1838, made by Jørgen Sonne.

Israels Plads is a large public square in central Copenhagen, Denmark, located in the area between Nørreport station and The Lakes. Its north end is home to a covered food market while the south end is currently subject to a comprehensive redesign which will integrate it with the adjoining Ørsted Park.

A design competition for the refurbishment of the southern portion of the square was won by the architectural firm Cobe in 2008. Their winning proposal introduces various facilities for street sports and performances as well as an organic integration with the adjoining park. The implementation of the project has been delayed due to a dispute with the owner of an underground parking facility but finally went under construction in 2012 and was completed in 2014.

Bjerget ØrestadsParkering is located on Ørestads Blvd in Ørestad, Copenhagen in Denmark.

The car park was built in 2008. The car park, which is part of the VM Bjerget building, was built by Høpfner A / S and Dansk Olie Kompagni. The architect is Bjarke Ingles Group.

VM Bjerget is a fusion of residential construction and parking garage and Bjarke Ingles has won a number of international awards for his architecture and his idea, including the title of the world’s best residential construction in 2008 at the World Architecture Festival in Barcelona.

VM Bjerget rises from terrain level in the southeast to 34 meters in the northwest. The parking garage is located in the interior of the mountain with unusual, high-ceilinged and cathedral-like spaces.

The parking garage has 423 parking spaces on five levels.

The punched aluminum facade naturally ventilates in the parking garage. The façade has helped give the building its name, as it is clad with 1,200 aluminum sheets, which represent the peaks of Mount Everest. The artwork is nothing short of the world’s largest photograph. The photo used for the rendering was taken by Japanese photographer Osamu Uchida. The parking garage itself is also spectacular. The ceiling height is up to 16 meters, the walls are painted in dramatic colors and the elevator that cuts through the room moves obliquely up the inner walls of the mountain.

Havneholmen 1 is located on Kalvebod Brygge in Vesterbro in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The distinctive white building facing the waterfront, Havneholmen 48-86, was designed by architects Lundgaard & Tranberg and built by Sjælsø, 2006-2009.

Havneholmen (literally “The Harbour Isle”) is a mixed-use development located on reclaimed land off Kalvebod Brygge in the harbor of Copenhagen, Denmark. It is located just east of the shopping centre Fisketorvet from which it is separated by a narrow canal, although it is annexed to mainland Kalvebod Brygge at its southern end.

Havneholmen is connected to Islands Brygge on the other side of the harbor by Brygge Bridge, a foot and cycling bridge. Tømmergraven Canal separates it from Enghave Brygge to the south.

The area was formerly known as Kalvebod Pladsvej and was an industrial site. The plan for its redevelopment was adopted by the City in 2003. A masterplan for the area was created by Gert Wingårdh and construction began in 2006.

The development comprises about 91,000 square metres of buildings. It consists of a mixture of housing, offices and a hotel.

The Havneholmen Housing Estate was built by Sjælsø Group between 2005 and 2009. It was designed by Lundgaard & Tranberg and received the RIBA European Award in 2001. Another residential project, consisting of 148 apartments distributed on four buildings in a fan-like arrangement perpendicular to the water, is designed by Vilhelm Lauritzen Arkitekter.

Aller House is the headquarters of Aller Media and was designed by PLH Arkitekter.

376-room Hotel Copenhagen Island is located on its own island. It was designed by Kim Utzon for the Arp-Hansen Hotel Group. Havneholmen Atrium and Havneholmen Towers were designed by Wingårdh.

2020 – Møntergade 2 in Copenhagen (Google Streetview)

Møntergade 2 is located in the Old Town of Copenhagen, Denmark. It runs from Pilestræde in the west to Gothersgade in the east.

Møntergade has probably existed since the Middle Ages but the first reference to the street is from 1528 when it is referred to as “the city’s street which runs to the rampart (“byes stræde, som løuer till wollen”), a reference to the city’s East Rampart which then followed the course of present-day Gothersgade. The current name of the street is firs recorded in 1623. It refers to the Royal Mint which took over St. Clare’s Monastery after it was confiscated by the crown during the Reformation. In 1559, most of the residents in the street were craftsmen such as carpenters, weaversn coopers, wood carvers, wheelwrights, glove makers and basket makers.

Poul Fechtel, who had been Royal Mint Master from 1536 until 1565, created a charitable housing development on a lot granted by the king in 1570. It became known as Poul Fechtels Hospital and was destroyed along with the rest of the street in the Copenhagen Fire of 1728 but rebuilt in 1732. Poul Fechtels Hospital moved to a new building on Frederikssundsvej in 1908 and its old buildings were demolished the following year when the street Christian IX2 Gade was created.

The so-called Brøndstræde Quarter, a run-down and crowded area between Møntergade and Landemærket to the north, was demolished in 1910 in the first public urban regeneration programme of its kind in the city.

In 1888, the architect and builder Alfred Evers (1841-1904) built this four-story corner property.
An owner list from the property’s earliest years until 1982 can be seen in the book A Copenhagen cityscape, where a detailed building history can also be found.

The even numbered house row at No. 4–16 date from the 1730s and the houses are all listed. The houses were originally examples of the so-called “fire houses” (Danish: Ildebrandshuse) that were built in large numbers after the Fire of 1728. Most of the houses have later been altered with the addition of extra floors and changes to the facades but the building on the corner of Gammel Mønt shows the original design. The red-brick building on the corner with Pilestræde is from the 1880s.

The Danish fashion brand Rabens Saloner opened a flagship store over three storeys in No. 10 in 2015.

Egmont Group ‘s Guttenberghus Complex(No. 1-5) occupies the entire block on the other side of the street between Pilestræde and Vognmagergade. The wing on Møntergade is from 1962–64 and was designed by Preben Hansen Poul Andreasen. A colonnade runs along the full length of the block.

2020 – Stokhusgade 6 and 4B in Copenhagen (Google Streetview)

Stokhusgade 6 is located next to the known building on Stokhusgade 4B in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Stokhusgade is a cobbled, one-way street in central Copenhagen, Denmark, linking Rigensgade in the southeast with Øster Voldgade in the northwest. The street takes its name after the Copenhagen Stocks House which was located at the site from 1741 to 1851. The College of Advanced Technology’s former buildings occupy the entire southwestern side of the street.

The seven-storey house on number 4B houses 580 m², and stands on a just seven meter wide plot between historic buildings in inner Copenhagen. The architects’ intention with the project has been to create a fine relationship to the area’s existing buildings and media, the leap between the two neighboring buildings, but at the same time add a distinctive, new expression.

On the east side of the house is a 6-storey brick house from 1862, and to the west a 3-storey townhouse from 1872. This townhous is painted black recently and went throught a huge modernization.

The project utilizes the free light to the west by changing orientation from north / south to west in the fourth floor height, so the upper floors gets a view of Østre Anlæg and the Statens Museum for Kunst. The façade consists of a strip of copper alloy tombak, which runs up along the façades between the large window sections. The band consists of thin plates, with punched knobs, which create a tactile scale in the facade. In addition, the floor separations from the building on the east side continue as floor heights in the house, which is reflected in the window composition. The basement and ground floor are furnished for business, while there are 5 apartments in the rest of the house.

In October 2009, Oprah Winfrey visited the Nils Holscher House at No. 4B in a programme sent from Copenhagen. The building has also been featured in the DTK programme Arkitekternes hjem (“The Architects’ Homes”).
